DDR2 SDRAM is the second generation of synchronous dynamic random access memory with double data transfer rates.
DDR2 SDRAM uses data transmission on both clock slices, due to which, at the same frequency of the memory bus, you can actually double the data transfer rate compared to DDR.
The advantages of DDR2 SDRAM compared to DDR:
- higher bandwidth,
- as a rule, lower power consumption,
- Improved cooling design.
The DDR2 2048Mb GOODRAM memory module (GR800D264L6 / 2G) has a CL6 parameter, which indicates a latency value of 6. CAS latency, the first and most important parameter in timings, indicates the number of ticks needed to issue data to the bus. This parameter is most dependent on memory performance, since only it delays access to data, the lower the CL delay, the earlier the data enters the memory.
